Welcome to Lake District Castle Inn Hotel, situated within Cumbria’s Lake District National Park. Originally a coaching inn dating back to 1770, the hotel has expanded over the generations. Our team’s mission is to give our guests a unique and unforgettable experience in the Lake District.

Castle Collection

In 2024, Castle Collection acquired Lake District Castle Inn Hotel. Our Castle Collection is a family-owned hotel group with seven properties located across the UK and Ireland. Starting off in 1986 with Castle Hotel Dublin, the portfolio has grown, while the commitment to offer exceptional service and a truly warm welcome has remained unchanged.

Every Castle Collection property boasts its own unique charm, whether it’s a grand historic building or a cosy countryside retreat. But one thing remains constant, the warm, friendly welcome from our team. Our hotels are renowned for their comfortable and hospitable atmosphere with charming local touches that make you feel right at home.

With hotels in the Republic of Ireland, Scotland and North Wales the hotel group has long wished to find a gem in the Lake District, England. Each Castle Collection hotel has a historic building at its heart and Lake District Castle Inn Hotel is no different.

It was built during the coaching era, when similar establishments flourished along major travel highways and byways, offering weary travellers a place to rest and refresh.
